The Anna Foundation Lindh honored Fotoessa by supporting us to celebrate the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development on May 21st. And because nothing shapes our wonderful Mediterranean more than its rich cultural diversity, this year, for the World Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, we brought back the spirit of Mediterranean Day #MediterraneanDay once again with an unforgettable, vibrant musical experience. The event was hosted in the amphitheater of the Municipality of Saronikos and was open to the public. Fotoessa, in order to promote the cultural diversity of our country, created a musical event – a mosaic of notes, images and words that composed the big picture of culture.

The songs selected were performed by the band Methexis which took the audience on a journey from the East to the West of the Mediterranean and from the Greek tradition of yesterday to the great contemporary composers. The cultural musical mosaic was embellished by corresponding mosaics – images, artistic photographs of Ioulitta Soureli, member of Fotoessa, which depicted the multicultural community of the Municipality of Saronikos.

The “colorful” multicultural mosaic of the event was complemented by phrases of our fellow citizens, members of the local civil society, who answered the question: -What is culture for you, expressing through their own, personal prism the different dimensions of cultural creation. The event ended with the screening of the excellent short film “Extreme Walks” by Agnes Sklavos and Stelios Tatakis, which, with great originality, empathy and insight, highlights another aspect of diversity and focuses the issue of respect for our fellow human beings with disabilities, as a fundamental sample of culture.
