Fotoessa participated in the experts’ workshop, “Peace in the Eastern Mediterranean: Challenging an Illusion”, held on May 6 at the Institute of International Relations (IDIS) in Athens. Dr. Stefanos Vallianatos, co-founder of Fotoessa and coordinator of the Greek National Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation, served as the moderator of the discussion with outstanding speakers from Israel, Turkey and Egypt: Anat Lapidot-Firilla, Executive Director of Fulbright Israel -Tel Aviv District, Mustafa Aydin, Coordinator Global Academy, Professor at Kadir Has University and Dimitris Cavouras, Research Associate, Institute of International Affairs.
The event focused on the role of civil society in promoting a positive agenda in the Eastern Mediterranean region, highlighting both the challenges and the opportunities for peacebuilding. Key topics included strengthening cooperation between regional states, fostering dialogue through cultural exchanges and the need for sustainable initiatives that engage local communities.
